Continue the Human Race
1-29-1994

I was waiting in a line at school for something, in the main connecting hallway. I took my place behind two girls. SG was with me, I think. They're pretty good-looking. The one's name started with an N. She asked me out for Friday/today. I gave her my number to call me when she was ready. It was still mid-afternoon. After I went through the line, I went up some stairs like everyone else and arrived on some sort of balony. Looking over the side I could see Kessels supermarket. There was a hot-dog bar. I had a heck of a time finding some ketchup. The girls never came up here. In fact, hardly anyone was up here. They all must have left down the other stairs.

I suddenly found myself at SG's...or a place that was supposed to be his house, but it wasn't. It was dark, with his bedroom to one side, a couch on the other, and a stereo on the wall in-between. There's a girl named Saied. She kisses my back and says, "Kiss my back." As I lean over to do so, I notice she's got crusty zits all over it. I reluctantly kiss her neck instead. We're on the couch, petting each other all over. At 6 PM, I remembered my date and left, telling her I'd call her the next day, giving some lame excuse. She said, "I threw myself at you..."

I went to my room in my old house to change clothes. At 8:30 PM I called MO, telling him to pick me up and that we'd do something. I go into the next room over to where the computer used to be, except now there's a stereo and a T.V. I slip in a CD of some Japanese cartoon & music video. Never got a call from N. When MO arrived, we just drove around.

Called MO at 3 PM the next day. Hung around my room and played those CDs constantly. I finally got the message that N called the night before, that my sister and mom took the messages and left them on the counter. I made a fuss how I never look at the counter for messages. When I looked, I finally found it by the phone, which isn't on the counter.

Then I had a brief meeting with MO again. There was a huge crowd of people around. Among them CF. MO said, "And he calls me the next day as if I'm his best friend or something." We all gear up and play a game of soccer, without a goal. There's too many people, so we split into two groups and play two different games. I get the ball, CF's on me. Earlier I heard everyone shout at a guy named Treacherous, "Three kicks! Three kicks!" I kick the ball three times with CF on my tail, almost going out of bounds. As I rear for the 4th kick to put it into the goal, I yell, "Do I get a fourth?" They all shout, "No!" I say, "Well I'm gonna kick it again anyways!" I kick it to some other kid in front of the space between the trees which is the goal. He kicks and misses. He kicks and hits it straight up. He then head-butts it in. Then, while I'm running after the ball out in the field, a dog catches my shirt. I fight with him for it forever cuz I want the ball. Everyone tells me he won't let go until he gets the ball. My shirt rips and rips and rips but I'm always still caught as I try to rip away more....held by a thread. I look into its eyes.

I'm watching someone else, a chinese guy, in a basement with some wires. He fiddles with them, disarming some sort of system. He makes a stupid connection and starts a nuclear reaction. A girl says something like, "A continuing explosion!" He and the girl watch a few nuclei split on the magnified screen before they make their escape out of the metal door.

The world is careening through space. Huge cubicles of earth are dropping (falling up) into space in layers. The bottom layer that can be seen is pink. Then above that is brown. Above that, grey. Each layer is softer than the one on top. I cling to a pink cubicle next to the girl, JB, and a man in a grey suit with glasses. The guy with glasses shouts at me as I stare into the void, "You're not afraid of infinity! You're not afraid of falling! You're afraid of nothingness and nonexistence! Just stay on...here...take this pad. I'm gonna get moving. We'll make it to continue the human race somewhere else!" The pad is a cubical of brown ground, which I place under me. The Earth enters a huge, slimy, eyeball-like hole in space. There's critters all over as we pass through. JB pulls a centipede-like thing from her nose and screams. I tell her she should have come to my house to watch Indy & the Temple of Doom.
