Stagefright
11-03-1999

I stop by Beth's office, except it's been turned into a computer lab. She's sitting at the computer there, but I know it's not really her, but a hologram. I want to touch her, but I know that would be pointless. We talk for a little bit. She has to leave, so she walks out of the room. At the moment she's out of sight, her online presence logs off.

I end up walking along a hedge in the middle of a long street. I follow some guy and end up at my old church. Instead of the usual entrance, it's a long skinny white hallway. I decide I need to go to the bathroom and turn around, because there's one right by the entrance, kind of hidden. There's someone else in there. The stalls don't have toilets, just drains you're supposed to urinate into. I go into a stall and close the door. Just as I'm about to go, some guy comes into the next stall and leans against the back wall. He sticks his head through a gap between the wall and the stall wall and greets me. I think about what a weirdo this guy must be. Then he decides he likes my drain better, so he whips his thing through the gap and urinates into it from his stall. I just kind of stand there, stagefright.
