The Twisting Path
circa 1994

Our kindergarten class is on a trip through a tropical jungle. There's many places where we must hold on to trees and go down steep slopes. At one point we remove our shoes. We come to a small pond in a cave (I think it's a cave). There's three tunnels underwater, and the current is VERY strong. Only one way is the right way...any other way is certain death. I watch some other kids plummet into the water, get sucked under, and through the underwater streams. I finally plunge in and come to a dead end...I struggle...finally I swim downwards and through and up...struggling for breath...and come out into a cave! Another kid is there, consolidating me...that I made it! It's a strange home or abode of some sort. For some reason we know there's a monster in the next room, but that we must check out the cabinets and the cookie jar...treasure or something...strange treasure. So we do...we meet the monster...but I don't remember what happened. I think there was a portal or something to another place that the monster makes....?

I walked the twisting path from the bamboo rods and finally came to the deserted living area (open air...daytime) of someone.

(I return to this place in a 1999 dream.)
